David P. Gordon Jr.

David Paul Gordon Jr., age 79, of Lamar, Missouri, died Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at Barton County Memorial Hospital. David was born November 28, 1934 at Lamar, to David Paul Sr. and Isa (Logan) Gordon.  He entered the United States Army, serving in a tank division, infantry division and as an MP.  Returning home, David worked as a tool & die maker for Cessna Aircraft at Wichita, Kansas until he was disabled in 1974.  On June 3, 1961 he married Frances E. Perry at Wichita.  He attended Lamar First Baptist Church, enjoyed hunting, fishing, collecting coins, stamps and postcards.  He loved going to auctions, but he especially loved his grandkids and great-grandkids. David is survived by his wife, Frances Gordon; six sons, William Gordon, Oklahoma, Allen & Glenda Gordon, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, David & Daylene Gordon and Scott & Kristi Gordon, all of Lamar, Ralph Gordon, Dallas, Texas, and Shawn & Michelle Gordon, Lamar; and two daughters, Isa Gordon-West and Pamela Pitts, both of Lamar; four brothers, Denzel Gordon, Lamar, Jim & Armeta Potter, Phillipsburg, Missouri, Lister & Judy Potter, Lamar, Clayton & Queta Alumbaugh, Houston, Texas; 25 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Michael Gordon. Funeral service will be 2:00 pm Friday, February 21, 2014 at Lamar First Baptist Church with Rev. Robb Hodson officiating.  Burial will follow at Lake Cemetery with full military honors. The family will receive friends 6:00 to 7:00 pm Thursday, at Daniel Funeral Home. Contributions are suggested to American Cancer Society in care of Daniel Funeral Home.
