David H. McArthur

David Henry McArthur, age 85, of Lamar, passed away Tuesday, September 23, 2014 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.      David was born May 6, 1929 at Sylvania, Missouri to David and Corda (LeMaster) McArthur.  He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Samuel McArthur; a sister, Luella Dennis; and his wife, Loeta (White) McArthur who died March 25, 2014.      After graduating from Lockwood High School, David began his career on the railroad, hiring on in 1948 as a signal service repairman.  On December 5, 1951, he was inducted into the U.S. Army and was wounded while serving in Korea.  David was awarded a Purple Heart and honorably discharged September 10, 1953.  Returning to his railway career, he worked as a signal maintainer for Frisco and BNSF, retiring in 1991 after 41 years of service.   David was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed family camping trips, fishing and skiing.  He was a long-time member of Lockwood American Legion Post 372.      Survivors include three sons, Charles (Janet) McArthur, Larry McArthur, and David McArthur, all of Lamar; a granddaughter Katie McArthur (Darryl Robinson); and three great-grandchildren, Dezmon, Darionna, and Maggie Robinson.      Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. at Daniel Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. Saturday.  Burial with full military honors will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery.      Memorial contributions are suggested to Lockwood American Legion Post 372 in care of the funeral home.
