Chance H. Kentner

Chance Hayden Kentner, age 21, of Lamar, passed away Friday, June 14, 2013 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.      Chance was born July 26, 1991, at Lamar to Richard Kentner and Joy Miles.  He graduated from Golden City High School in 2010.  After two years at Crowder College, he was enrolled at Pittsburg State University for the fall 2013 semester, planning a career in plastics engineering.  Chance was currently working in the lawn and garden department at the Lamar Walmart.      An avid outdoorsman, Chance enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was the Missouri State 4-H Youth Champion in Trap Shooting.  He had a life-long love of farming and earned FFA Chapter, State, and American Farmer Degrees.  A great day for Chance would involve baling hay, riding a Harley, playing softball or spending time at Angler's Paradise with Don.  One of the highlights of his life was a trip to learn about agriculture in Costa Rica.  He had recently discovered a talent for photography, capturing the excitement of motor sport racing with his Redline Photography.  Chance will be remembered by many as a loyal friend and was always there for anyone in need of a defender.       Chance was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Gene & Betty Kentner; maternal grandfather, Louie Miles; and his friend, Amber Francis.      Survivors include his parents, Joy Miles of Lamar; Richard & Princess Kentner of Golden City;  maternal grandmother, June Miles, Lamar; four brothers, Scott & Amanda Kentner, Springdale, Arkansas, Josh Weimer & Annie Moore, Lamar, Jarid & Jennifer Weimer, Grain Valley, Missouri, Kyle Lowe, Stockton; two sisters, Shannon Kentner & Mary Leary, Falls Church, Virginia, and Emily Lowe, Golden City; two aunts, Sharon & Jesse Masterson, Carthage and Judy & Andy Easson, Lawton, Oklahoma; two uncles, Jody Miles, Lockwood and  Frank Bell, Lamar; ten nieces and nephews, Morgan, Rylie, Sydnie, Dylan, and Chloe Weimer, Alyson and Erin Kentner-Leary, Sicily, Eliza, & Van Kentner, Ty Bell, and Melinda Richey; 13 cousins, Brandon, Jordan, Jacob, Henry, & Kari Easson, Colton & Rocky Higgins, Bailey, Paxton, Zach, Zain & Finley Masterson, and Mason Bell; special friends, Emily Jeffries, John Dimond, Chase Probert, James Fanning, Chris Steward, Brian Reed, and Jerad Andrews; a large extended family and a host of classmates and friends.      Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 19th at Lamar United Methodist Church with Rev. Kent Garfield and Dr. Barry Winders officiating. Burial will be in Greenfield Cemetery near Jerico Springs.      The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at Daniel Funeral Home.      Memorial contributions may be made to Chance Kentner Memorial Scholarship Fund to establish an agriculture-related scholarship.
