Cecil Edward Jones, age 74, of Jasper, departed
this life to be with the Lord on Tuesday,
December 23, 2008, at his home after a short illness.
Cecil was born April 10, 1934, at Stockton,
Missouri, to Silas Jesse and Ruth Ellen
(Felty) Jones. He graduated from El
Dorado Springs High
School and went to work for the Missouri State
Highway Department in 1952. His career
as a surveyor/inspector for MODOT spanned 44 years before his retirement in
1996.
Cecil was saved at the home of Claude
Miller on October 27, 1947
and joined Hazel Dell
Missionary Baptist
Church. He had been an active member of New
Hope Missionary Baptist
Church in Avilla,
Missouri since moving his membership there
on September 28, 1958. Always faithful, Cecil often said, “I KNOW MY
REDEEMER LIVETH.”
On June
26, 1953, at Jerico Springs, Cecil married Carol Jeanette Samp and
she survives, of the home. Also
surviving are three children and their spouses, Sheila & David Smith,
Cabot, Arkansas, Cynthia & Lloyd Chapman, Jasper, and Kevin & Robin
Jones, Lebanon; a brother and sister-in-law, Jerald & Janet Jones, El
Dorado Springs; two sisters, Pauline Bryant, El Dorado Springs, and Geneva Miller,
Lamar; three grandsons, Robert & wife Brandi Chapman, Jeff Chapman, and
Randall Smith; three great-grandchildren; and a large extended family
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 29th at Hazel
Dell Missionary Baptist
Church southeast of El Dorado
Springs. Burial will be in Hazel
Dell Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 4:00
p.m. Sunday at Daniel Funeral Home in Lamar.

North on Highway 71 (approximately 25 miles)
Turn right (East) on Hwy 54, travel to east edge of El Dorado Springs & turn right (south) on Hwy 32 (Woods Grocery is on the left at the intersection)
Follow 32 south approx. 3 miles to U Highway (watch for sale barn)
Turn east on U Highway, go 3.6 miles (watch for Hazel Dell Sign at junction of U & Co. Rd. 651)
Turn north on Co. Rd. 651, go 1/2 mile, turn east on Co. Rd. 500 to church.
