Catherine Heim

Catherine Lillian Heim, age 97, of Lamar, passed away Friday, April 6, 2012 at Truman Healthcare Center where she had been a resident since 2006.      Catherine was born September 3, 1914, at Monett, Missouri, to Mark and Georgie (McQuary) Tiernan.   She graduated from Monett High School with the class of 1932.   On September 9, 1937, at Tulsa, Oklahoma, Catherine married Norbert Heim and they made their home in Lamar.  Norbert and Catherine owned and operated the Heim Chick Hatchery on the east side of the Lamar square and the Corner Gift Shop on the west side of the Lamar square for many years.  Catherine was an devoted member of St. Mary's Catholic Church where she served as organist and Sunday school teacher and  was active in the Altar Society as long as her health permitted.  She was also a member of Lamar Country Club; Sew and Sew Club; Wednesday Reading Club; and Bridge Club.      Catherine and Norbert had celebrated nearly 50 years together before his death July 15, 1987.  She was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Keith and Tom Tiernan; and her daughter, Mary Ann (Heim) Weaver.      Survivors include a sister-in-law, Aline (Heim) Weber, Louisville, Kentucky; numerous nephews and nieces; and a large extended family.      A rosary service and visitation will be held at 6:00 p.m. Monday at Daniel Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church with burial in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.      Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Mary's Catholic Church Building Fund in care of Daniel Funeral Home.      Condolences may be sent at www.danielfuneralhome.net
