Robert “Bob” Preston McDonald, age 70, of Lamar, died Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at Barton County Hospital after a sudden illness.
Bob was born July 25, 1943 at Lockwood, MO to Preston Leonard and Ledora Marguerite (Dorsett) McDonald. In 1961, he graduated from Lockwood High School. The next year on April 20, 1962, he married Margaret Mae Harper, and together they raised three children.
Bob was a truck driver for Safeway for many years, retiring in 1992. He attended Lamar First Baptist Church and also enjoyed golf, fishing, and farming. He loved watching the Chiefs and Royals and all his grandchildrens' games and activities. But what brought the most joy to his life was having family together and traveling with his wife.
Bob leaves behind his wife of 51 years, two sons, Mark & Shelly McDonald of Monett, MO, and John & Laura McDonald of Lamar, MO; one daughter, Lisa & Doug Ball of Overland Park, KS; nine grandchildren, Melissa McDonald, Bryce McDonald, Hannah McDonald, Sarah McDonald, Alyssa Berry, Darcy McDonald, Leah McDonald, Emily Ball and Megan Ball; and one sister, Elaine Gall of Branson, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral service will be 1:00 pm Friday, October 18, 2013 at Daniel Funeral Home with burial to follow at Morehead Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6:00 to 7:00 pm Thursday at the funeral home.
