Beverley A. Garringer

Beverley Anne Garringer, age 80, of Lamar, passed away Monday, November 25, 2013 at Barton County Memorial Hospital.      Beverley was born July 27, 1933 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Ancil and Fern (Rumbaugh) Welch.  On June 11, 1951, at Aurora, Missouri, she married the love of her life, Junior Garringer and they have called Lamar home for the past 57 years.  In addition to being a devoted homemaker, wife, mother, and the best Grandmommy ever, Beverley had worked as a bookkeeper, checker, and an optometric assistant.  For the last six years, she experienced her favorite job outside the home, meeting families and interacting with children while working as a cashier at Silver Dollar City.       As an active member of First Baptist Church, Beverley taught Sunday school, sang in the choir, and served on the hospitality committee.  She and Junior developed the Bible Drill program and continued to coordinate it for many years.  They also volunteered at Baptist Hill Church Camp for several years.  Beverley was a past Worthy Matron and District Deputy of the Order of Eastern Star and had been Mother Advisor for Rainbows.  Many will remember her for her work as director of Barton County American Red Cross Disaster Services and will miss her leadership in future blood drives.      Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Junior, of the home; a son, Rodney Garringer of Rockford, Illinois; four daughters, Jennifer Garringer of Kansas City, Ann (Ralph) Stahl of Lamar, Sandy (Shaun) Bean of Liberal, and Cheri (Darrell) Moss of Lamar; a brother, Jim (Sharon) Welch of Branson; two sisters, Judy Welch of Wesley Chapel, Florida and Sue Sundlee of Rochester, Minnesota.  She leaves 13 grandchildren, Sean (Annemarie) Kirby, Kansas City; Angel (Kevin) Patterson, Donovan (Jessica) Stahl, Chelle (Mark) Gardner, Marty (Jeremy) Ansley all of Lamar; Joey (Jenni) Garringer, Eldorado Springs; Shauna Bean (Steven Hackler) of Liberal; Becky (Logan) Powell, Lamar; Josh Bean, Sheldon; Carrie Bean, Little Cottonwood Canyon, Utah; Zach (Hope) Kirby, Kansas City, Kansas; Sarah (Nathan) Davis, Liberal; and Chelsea (Justin) Dighero, Lamar.  Her 20 great-grandchildren include Trenton (Chelsea) Doyle, Addie Williams, Dallas Doyle, Jerica, Jacey & Donte' Stahl, Jilli & Brody Gardner, Trevyn & Tayah Garringer, Taylor Kirby, Tate, Tyler, TJ, Toby & Tripp Ansley, Stasha Hackler, Ashlynn Davis; Alyssa, Clayton & Brady Powell.  Beverley is also survived by one great-great granddaughter, Maiah Williams, as well as many nieces and nephews and a large extended family.   She was preceded in death by her parents; a son-in-law, Bill Kirby; and a grandson, Trevor Kirby.      Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 30th at Daniel Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until service time.  Burial will be in Lake Cemetery.      Memorial contributions are suggested to First Baptist Church Children's Ministries in care of the funeral home.
