Betty Virginia (Neese) Parrack, 88, Lamar, passed away December 15, 2013 at Barton County Memorial Hospital following a short illness.
Betty was born January 12, 1925, at Bois D’Arc MO, and was the oldest daughter of Russell Floyd and Lucy Fae (Hinshaw) Neese. She graduated from Willard High School in 1943 and attended Draghon’s Business College. She worked at Heers in Downtown Springfield in the 1940’s, at Erwin’s Grocery Store, Corner Card and Gift Shop, Walters’ Studio, and Sears in Lamar. She was a member of the Powdre Puff Bowling League for a number of years. She loved to read, crochet afghans for family members, and was always asked to bring the pies to family gatherings.
She married Norman (Johnny) Parrack on March 24, 1949 in Springfield.
Survivors include a daughter Diane (husband-Mike) Sharits, Carthage; a son Jay Parrack, Lamar; two grandsons, Ryan Long, Kansas City, MO; and Brady (wife-Haden) Long, Springfield; two granddaughters, Devon Sharits, Toronto, Ontario, Canada; and Taylor Sharits, Springfield; and two great granddaughters, Edyn Jayne Rivas and Elliot Anderson Long, both of Springfield; three sisters, Mary Head, Springfield; Norma Jean Chapman, Oconomowoc, WI; and Barbara Blackwell, Springfield; one brother-in-law Gaylord Parrack, Mobile AL, as well as several nieces, nephews, and very close friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Norman (October 1988); sister Catherine Henry; four brothers-in-law; four sisters-in-law; three nephews; and one niece.
Visitation will be held Thursday, December 19 from 6-7 p.m. and funeral services are scheduled for Friday, December 20 at 2 p.m. at Daniel Funeral Home in Lamar. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery.
