Betty Edge

Betty Louise Edge, age 82, of Lamar, formerly of Springfield, passed away Thursday, July 4, 2013 at Truman Healthcare Center where she had been a resident for the past month.      Betty was born June 6, 1931 at Battlefield, Missouri, the daughter of Harry and Gladys (Perkins) Poole.  She graduated from Springfield High School and had worked as a pricing clerk for O'Reilly Auto Parts for more than 25 years.  On January 21, 1949, she married the love of her life, Bill Edge and they made their home and raised their son, Larry, in Springfield.  Betty and Bill enjoyed any activity they could share, especially traveling, camping, square-dancing, and spending time with their grandchildren.  Betty will be remembered first and foremost as a devoted wife and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.  She was a member of Pythian Avenue Baptist Church.      Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Bill, of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Larry & Robbie Edge of Lamar; three granddaughters and their husbands, Shawna & Bert Phipps, Lamar, Sara & Danny Cawyer, Jasper, and Tara & Robert Littlejohn, Lamar; eight great-grandchildren, Carlee and Tanner Phipps, Brianna, Laney, Ellie and Macey Cawyer, Payton and Koen Littlejohn; and numerous close and dear friends.  She was preceded in death by a great-grandbaby, Kayden Littlejohn and was welcomed by three additional great-grandbabies in heaven.      Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 8th at Crossway Baptist Church, (2900 North Barnes, Springfield, Missouri) where the family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time.  A committal service will be held at Missouri Veterans Cemetery south of Springfield at 1:00 p.m. Monday.      Memorial contributions are suggested to Pythian Avenue Baptist Church in care of Daniel Funeral Home, 1201 Broadway, Lamar, MO  64759.
