Bessie M. Holt

Bessie Margaret Holt, age 83, of Lamar, passed away Monday, November 10, 2008, at Barton County Memorial Hospital.        Bessie was born November 2, 1925, in the Eshrom community, to James and Elizabeth (Younts) Ruddick.  A life-long Barton County resident, Bessie had worked for Sawyer Dry Cleaners and Houston Clean-All for many years.  She also worked for O’Sullivan Industries for 20 years, retiring in 1990.  Bessie was an avid gardener and enjoyed animals.        On April 20, 1946, at Girard, Kansas, Bessie married Warren Holt and they had celebrated forty years together before his death on November 26, 1986.        Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Robert & Pansey Holt, and a daughter and son-in-law, Linda & Floyd Humes, all of Lamar; six grandchildren, Melissa & husband Stephen Cato, Krista White, Brad & wife Ali Humes, Jennifer Holt, Jeffrey Holt, and Jamie Holt; 5 great-grandchildren, Tyler White, Trevor White, Johnna Cato, Alician Humes, and Jillian Humes.        Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 15th at Daniel Funeral Home with burial in Memory Gardens Cemetery.        Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society in care of Daniel Funeral Home.
