Audrey M. Dorsett, age 78, of rural
Sheldon, Missouri, peacefully passed away Friday night, January 13, 2017,
surrounded by family at her home.
Audrey May and her twin sister, Mary Fay,
were born June 30, 1938, in Lockwood, Missouri, to Charles and Mary (Burrows)
Taylor. At the age of 14, Audrey moved
with her family to California where she soon met the love of her life, Robert
W. Dorsett. They married June 30, 1954
in San Bernardino and Audrey delighted in her role as a devoted homemaker,
wife, and mother to their four children.
In 1966, they moved to Kansas City, Kansas, where she earned certification
as a C.N.A. and Med-Tech. Audrey’s
kindness and skill as a nurturing caregiver blessed many through her work as a private
duty nurse in the Kansas City metro area as well as at Sharon Lanes Nursing
Home and Presbyterian Manor. After
moving to Vernon County in 2002, she had more time to spend in her flower
garden or to crochet intricate and unique wall hangings to share with family
and friends. Her door was always open
and her cookie jar full in anticipation of spending precious time with children
and grandchildren. Audrey was a faithful
member of Fairview Church in Jerico Springs.
Survivors include her husband of 63 years,
Bob, of the home; her daughter, Jackie (Terry) Marks, rural Sheldon; three
sons, Mike (Connie) Dorsett, Kansas City, Kansas, Mark (Linda) Dorsett, South
Greenfield, Missouri, and Rob (Sheryl) Dorsett, Grove, Oklahoma; a brother,
Fred (Ruby) Taylor, Greenfield; two sisters, Dixie Crouch, South Greenfield,
and Mary Raley, Robertsdale, Alabama; 19 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren;
and a large extended family.
